A Message from the Chair of the Board
Our society defines the concept of ‘hero’ in many ways. The word hero is generally applied to those who have fought and served in the armed forces. It is also a term used to describe police officers, safety personnel and professional athletes who have performed special or exceptional acts. At St. Patrick’s Home, we have come to realize that many, if not most, of our residents are heroes too. Unsung heroes who have had a positive impact on their families and their communities. Heroes who, through their efforts and selfless acts, changed the lives of many and have become role models for us all.
Many residents of St. Patrick’s Home helped build the community of Ottawa. On this page, we have pulled together some of their stories as a small tribute to our Home’s heroes. We hope you enjoy it. There are many other heroes in our community who deserve to be acknowledged, so we invite you to submit their stories too.
